High‑purity Water for Injection (WFI)

Sterile, pyrogen‑free, and free from any additives or electrolytes. This ultrapure water is specifically prepared for medical and pharmaceutical use, making it the correct choice for reconstituting lyophilised (powdered) drugs before injection.

Common Uses

· Reconstituting Sculptra (poly‑L‑lactic acid), use 5–8ml WFI per vial as per manufacturer guidelines

· Mixing with powdered antibiotics, vaccines, or other injectable medications before administration

· Diluting drugs for intramuscular (IM) or subcutaneous (SC) injection after appropriate mixing

· Pharmaceutical manufacturing of IV fluids or parenteral nutrition

Important Note: Not the same as Saline

. Water for Injection (WFI) is not normal saline (NaCl 0.9%).

· Normal saline is isotonic and can be injected directly into the bloodstream.

· WFI is hypotonic and must never be injected alone intravenously. It can cause red blood cell rupture (haemolysis).

· Use WFI only to reconstitute powders before they are further diluted or administered correctly.
